This weekend I attended a workshop on using technology in the foreign language classroom. It showcased ways to use wikis and blogs to have students input information from the class. In one example, the students read articles, and then a group in the class was assigned to create a wiki page for that article. Each wiki entry was a summary of the article. If students were absent in the class, they could look to the wiki to find out what they had missed. Also, at the end of the semester they were able to look back into the wiki and study for their exam. I was out of place, a student in a room full of teachers, but it got me thinking about how I could implement this from a student's point of view.
I'd like to use this blog as a place to post notes and tidbits from the French 203 class for the rest of the semester. I will try to post them within a few hours of each course. I may also include some links to cultural resources either referenced in class or that I have found on my own. I would like it if other students would comment on the notes, adding any information that I may have missed or anything else you'd like to talk about in the comments. If you would like to create your own posts, tell me in the comments or send a message to my email Sethpfisher@gmail.com and I can make you an administrator on the blog.
